I was contacted by Molly Wallner from Petro-Hunt regarding the oil being drilled from our Section 23 in North Dakota.  I found the original scanned in Patent on the homestead property signed by Woodrow Wilson.

Molly attached a document with her email where they are stating that there is a clouded title.  Karen believes what is clouding the title is that they are not aware of Niles Hanson dying January 14, 1991 prior to Viola's death, June 30, 1991.  They were unable to locate his social security number.  Does anyone know that information?  Karen received a call from a man who said several of the family are selling their portion of the Land Patent for $7500?

Interesting thing about this land patent is that it is forever granted to Sigvart Peterson and his heirs and assigns.

The land man you refer to is named Rial Genre. He is working for ARKOMA. He has called me with the same claim. But Kristie said that is not so. I am going to call Kliensticks to see if they are selling. Aunt Ellen is not selling.

Thanks George.  I'm corresponding to Molly Wallner regarding the funds being held.  I'm questioning the need for probate when it should be going to the heirs according to Montana intestate and North Dakota intestate laws.  I know when my dad passed my mom filled out the information regarding his death and sent a certified death certificate to the oil company including the names of the 3 of us as heirs.  I don't know what happened to mess up this succession to the rightful heirs.

Hi Family, This is Kristie Tveden Evans here. I've been digging in and searching out the family mineral rights and everyone's information has been helpful.  First of all this man that has contacted Aunt Ellen, George and myself is very aggressive and lists himself as a "Lease Hound" and cattleman on Linked In. I find that appropriate .  Im sorting through all the lease offers Dad had and putting together a timeline. Our mineral rights include more than one legal description and covers four different sections.  A section is one square mile.  I'm tying to find what previous drilling has been done.  The newly elected governor has made it his goal to pump twice as much oil next year.  It appears are area is relatively untapped.  It is in the center of the biggest sweet crude basin. So the push is on by investors.  His company is a conglomerate of at least ten companies that are privately owned by fourteen investors. They only buy the mineral rights to the most profit promising acquisitions .  Don't sell out yet!!! I'm a dog with a bone this time around.  Let's learn what we've really got and make a wise decision to lease not sell.

Gail is a great researcher. She's doing a great job to watch over Mom's interests and keeping the wolves at bay. By way of clarification, according to the partial paperwork provided by Molly to Gail about Viola's "clouded title" seems to have mostly to do with her dying intestate--no will, no probate, no issuance of Personal Representative Deeds--AND the fact that they were trying to figure out if Niles Hanson had primary interests as a surviving spouse. But, of course, he died before she did so isn't a factor.
